_The 40th FIS alpine skiing World Championships Opening Ceremony is taking place Monday, February 2nd, with Gian Franco Kasper, president of International Ski Federation (FIS) and Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Health, Youth and Sport Minister. The official parade presenting all 73 participating nations will be followed by a show given by Gilles Rhode, combining modernism and the mountain's custom. Gilles Rhode and Brigitte Burdin run the Transe Express Company. He also ran part of the Albertville Olympic Games in 1992. Following the Ceremony, all officials and general public are invited to share the Val d'Isère 2009 soup and Savoie region specialities at the Giant Buffet, situated in Val d'Isère's main street.
